Observe ≠ Absorb

I saw a compelling post from Dr. Jaime Seeman about managing feelings.

Her thesis is how to shift from emotional reactivity → emotional regulation. It’s practicing how to observe emotions, rather than absorb them.

Reactivity occurs when we pull in negative energy (absorb) from our surroundings. When we soak everything in, any annoyance or frustration can spike the amygdala (emotional center) — sending us into overwhelm.

Ways to manage? Become a spectator to your feelings — it activates the prefrontal cortex (logical center). Name it to tame it. Then the intense triggers will be a lot easier to manage.
